Tapestry Players Guide – How to Play the Tapestry TTRPG

Welcome, Players

The Tapestry TTRPG is built for collaborative storytelling, character‑driven play, and creative problem‑solving. This page offers a lightweight introduction to help new players understand how the game works, what they need to begin, and where to find the full Tapestry Players Guide.

The Core Loop

You get the situation, the pressure, and what’s at stake. Then you decide what your character wants.

Say what you do and how you do it. You roll only when the moment matters and the outcome is uncertain.

Results change the world. Success creates openings. Failure creates complications — and fuels the resources that let you bend fate later.

What you Need

  • 2–6 players (including the Storyweaver)
  • Dice!
    • Tapestry uses 3d6 for rolls. You can start with as little as one six-sided die!
  • Character sheet
  • Player Guide (PDF or Physical)
  • A willingness to make messy choices

The Tapestry Players Guide expands on these basics with full character creation rules, traits, abilities, and examples to help you shape your hero.

In Tapestry, you don’t begin as a hero carved from marble. You begin as someone real—capable, but fragile. You can bleed, you can fail, you can get in over your head fast. That’s the point. The game isn’t about proving you were exceptional from page one; it’s about watching the ordinary become extraordinary through hard choices, close calls, and consequences that stick.

A sentence of identity and desire. What do you want badly enough to risk something for it?

A small edge, a skill, a talent, a connection—something that gives you a foothold.

A burden, a flaw, a vow, a debt, a fear—something that follows you into every scene.
